His practice includes:
Louisiana treats a cocaine charge as a serious felony, though the exact penalty depends on how the charge is framed and how much cocaine is involved.
Ordinary simple possession of cocaine, between 2 and 28 grams, carries 1 to 5 years at hard labor and a discretionary fine of up to $5,000 under La. R.S. 40:967(C)(2). At 28 grams or more, though, Louisiana law stops treating the charge as simple possession at all: the statute automatically deems that quantity a violation of the distribution provision, exposing a defendant to 1 to 20 years at hard labor and a fine of up to $50,000, even without any packaging, scales, or cash found in the search.
Production or manufacturing of cocaine itself is punished far more severely, with a minimum of 10 years at hard labor, up to 30 years, and a fine of up to $500,000.
At least the first 10 years of that sentence must be served without the possibility of parole, probation, or a suspended sentence; any portion of the sentence beyond ten years is not automatically without-benefit under the statute.
This reflects Louisiana law as of August 2026, and it is worth checking again if your case moves slowly, since these numbers do get revisited by the legislature.
These are not hypothetical outcomes. They are verdicts a Louisiana jury returned.
| Outcome | Case Type |
| Not Guilty | Possession of Cocaine, 28 Grams or More |
| Acquittal | Possession with Intent to Distribute, Cocaine and Marijuana |
The client in the cocaine case faced years of possible prison time at trial and walked out with a full acquittal. In the second case, the client faced separate distribution-level charges over both cocaine and marijuana and was acquitted on all counts.

Most Bossier Parish drug cases are heard at the Bossier Parish Courthouse in Benton, home to the 26th Judicial District Court, which covers both Bossier and Webster Parishes.
The 26th Judicial District runs both a Pre-Trial Diversion Program and a dedicated Drug Court through the Bossier Parish District Attorney’s Office, and both can keep a first-time drug charge off your permanent record if you qualify and complete the requirements. I can review your charge and tell you quickly whether either option is realistic in your case.
Often, yes, unless the record is expunged, which is one more reason to challenge the charge early rather than assume it will simply go away on its own.
Possession means the drugs were found on you or under your control. Intent to distribute adds a much harsher penalty range and usually turns on quantity, packaging, scales, or cash found during the search.
Not usually, and any search built on a shaky traffic stop, a stretched consent, or a bad warrant is often the strongest point in the entire case.
Cost depends on whether the charge is a misdemeanor, a felony, or a federal case, and whether it is likely to go to trial. I go over cost and realistic payment options during a confidential consultation, before you have to decide anything.
You will likely be arraigned and enter an initial plea, and having a lawyer with you at that first appearance protects you from decisions made without full information.
