John D. & Eric G. Johnson Law Firm Welcomes Jonathan L. Guthrie to Our Team

May 16, 2022Eric G. Johnson

With incredible experience in the Louisiana court system and a strong understanding of the Federal Sentencing Guidelines and the workings of the United States Sentencing Commission, The Johnson Law Firm is proud to welcome retired United States Probation Officer, Jonathan L. Guthrie.

After retiring from the Western District of Louisiana – Shreveport Division, Jonathan joined our firm on November 8, 2021. He has over 20 years of experience writing countless PreSentence and Pretrial Reports for United States District and Magistrate Court judges, as well as proficient knowledge of investigative strategies. For most of Jonathan’s career, he worked closely with the United States Attorney’s Office, Federal Public Defender’s Office, United States Marshals Service, Federal Bureau of Prisons, and other federal law enforcement agencies such as the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Drug Enforcement Administration, and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms.

Jonathan graduated from Louisiana Tech University in May of 1991 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and would continue his journey in the legal field at Bossier Parish Community College. Jonathan is passionate about defending and upholding the law and in 2010, was asked by the Webster Parish Office of Community Services to serve on the Board of Directors as a representative of those less fortunate in the local community. His position required him to maintain and monitor funding for Public Transportation, Head Start, Rental Assistance, Utility Allowances, Food for Seniors, and the local Homeless Shelter. Jonathan went and served as secretary for the board from September 2011 through December 2015.

Not only does Jonathan play a major role in the legislative process within his community, but he is also an avid sports lover and family man. Jonathan and his wife Robyn have been married for over 30 years and have proudly raised their wonderful daughter Lauren. They love spending time outdoors and participating in softball leagues and tournaments. As an active member of the softball community for more than 25 years, Jonathan acquired the nickname “Goose” from some of his friends and teammates.

Our team at John D. & Eric G. Johnson Law Firm is proud to announce his employment and believe that his addition to our firm will uphold our premier law position in North Louisiana for Federal criminal practice. With decades of experience in Louisiana’s legal system, his knowledge and commitment will assist our clients with their cases.
